Today I have to say goodbye to my favorite animal, a lovable family member and the most faithful friend I have ever known.
I met you around the same time that I met your mama and as much as I first resisted to let Casey into my heart, there was no way I could say no to you. A cute blonde like yourself, who could resist? Fast forward almost 4 years later and I’m a lucky enough man to be getting married to Casey and have had you in my life every single day. We’ve been to rivers, lakes, beaches, mountains and forests. Under my desk, at my side in bed and in my truck with your face in the breeze as we’re on to our next adventure. No matter what, you’re always ready with a smile on your face and a huge heart - the best friend a human could ask for.
A friend told me that dogs don’t live as long as humans because they are here to teach us how to love and that when they are done showing us the way and they have given all the love that they can, it is their time to move on. This is true of you. You’ve taught me many things, the most important being how to love unconditionally. Whether you have four legs or three, 50 sticks or zero, out playing in the river or stuck in the house because of the rain - not once did you stop loving.
I promise to do my best to pass on everything you’ve given us. I will never forget you, my little sweetheart. You are with us forever. I hope that wherever you are going there is no such thing as cancer and there will be unlimited tennis balls, sticks and squirrels to chase but most importantly, more ways for you to spread the infinite love that makes you so special.
You will be there with us when Casey and I get married. You will be there when we bring a baby into the world. You will always be there. I love you so much.
